Find a planet-first focus

Finlay found it easy to fight for what matters most.

Study

Originally from the Gold Coast, Finlay Walton has always been fascinated by the unique lifestyle and environment of Tasmania.

After a few trips down south for some outdoor adventures, he stumbled upon the University of Tasmania's Bachelor of Agricultural Science with Honours and its sustainable agriculture major, which perfectly matched his interests and goals.

“It's been a big part of my drive, moving society towards a more climate-oriented focus. And I think hearing that the University of Tasmania has that at the forefront, and is one of the best unis in the world for it, was the main draw card for me.”, Finlay said.

Fortunately for Finlay, the enrolment process at the University was a breeze, thanks to the helpful Student Advisers who were there every step of the way to provide him with all the information and options he needed. They even helped him with his course structure by evaluating his previous credits from a similar degree he pursued in Brisbane.

“Everyone that I've met (at the University of Tasmania) is very passionate about standing up for what they believe in, whether that's climate and conservation, and advocacy for all those things, everyone I've met is super passionate about something.”

Finlay is thrilled to be part of a community that values sustainability and agriculture, and has been impressed by the high-quality education and unfaltering support he receives at the University. Even his interstate move from Queensland to Tasmania was made easy thanks to support from the University.
