Governance, leadership and strategy

We are a University that makes a positive difference for Tasmanians and Tasmania and, from Tasmania, the world. Our governance, leadership and strategy are focused on ensuring we deliver and sustain this mission.

Governance and leadership

The University Council, led by the Chancellor, is the governing body of the University. It has responsibility for the overall strategy, budget, well-being and sound operation of the University.

The Council appoints the Vice-Chancellor to provide the executive leadership of the University in accordance with the strategy, budget, risk appetite and delegated authority it approves for the running of the University.

Strategy

  • The Strategic Plan: 2025 Strategic Refresh (PDF 5.5MB) focuses the University’s mission on making a real difference to Tasmania and the world as we seek to work with others to create a more sustainable planet and adapt to a new and very different era for higher education.
  • With a horizon reaching out to 2050, the Strategic Plan allows us to be guided by a long-term view, while being responsive to any changes in the context in which we operate.
