Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause respiratory infections.
Respiratory infections affect the parts of the body used in breathing: the nose, throat and lungs. The illnesses caused by coronaviruses range from the common cold to more serious illnesses, like COVID-19.
Key things to stay well and protect others
- Keep up to date with vaccinations - this helps protect people from serious illness
- Practice good hand hygiene and cover coughs and sneezes
- If you are experiencing cold/flu-like symptoms;
- stay away from campus
- avoid visiting high-risk settings including hospitals, residential aged care facilities or disability residential settings
- wear a face mask in indoor spaces, on Public Transport, and when visiting people who may be at risk of severe illness
- avoid large gatherings and indoor crowded places
- Report any positive COVID-19 test results to University

Vaccination requirement and campus access information
Vaccination is not mandatory, however it is strongly encouraged. This is the most important measure to protect ourselves and those at risk of severe outcomes.
Students undertaking Personal Placement Experience (PEP) must comply with the vaccination requirements f the workplaces they are entering.
Getting a COVID-19 Test and letting the university know
If you have cold/flu symptoms:
- Stay away from campus and wear a mask if you need to leave home.
If you are a residential student, please ensure you socially distance and consider your neighbours, using a mask when moving around the residence.
