The University of Tasmania’s procurement process is designed to support our strategic goals by ensuring ethical, sustainable, and efficient purchasing practices. This includes a commitment to combating modern slavery and promoting transparency in supply chains.

Suppliers are encouraged to register through the Unimarket e-marketplace, which streamlines the procurement process and ensures compliance with the University’s standards. By fostering strong supplier relationships the University of Tasmania aims to achieve value for money while supporting local and Indigenous businesses.

Indigenous procurement

The University of Tasmania is committed to fostering social and Indigenous procurement as part of our broader strategic initiatives.

Through collaborative projects like the Northern Transformation Campus Redevelopment, the University actively seeks to engage local Indigenous and Tasmanian Aboriginal enterprises. This promotes economic participation and development.

This initiative included creating an organisational register to connect Indigenous businesses with opportunities in construction, supplies, and services. With a focus on Indigenous employment and procurement, the University aims to support Aboriginal communities and ensure more equitable access to business opportunities.

This approach aligns with the University’s dedication to sustainable and inclusive growth, benefiting the broader Tasmanian community. For more information on the University’s approach to Aboriginal Business.

Social procurement

The University of Tasmania is dedicated to advancing social procurement as part of our commitment to sustainable and ethical practices.

This approach supports purchasing from suppliers that contribute positively to society, including social enterprises and businesses owned by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

By integrating social procurement into our policies, the University aims to create economic opportunities for marginalised communities and support local businesses.

This initiative not only enhances the University’s social impact but also aligns with our broader goals of fostering inclusivity and sustainability within Tasmania.
