For Learning Destinations

Children's University Learning Destinations provide high quality learning opportunities and activities for children and young people.

Children's University Tasmania partners with local learning providers to offer a range of rich and rewarding experiences.

CU Learning Destinations are validated by our team and include a  wide range of organisations around Tasmania, including museums, art galleries, libraries, wildlife parks and other cultural and historical locations. Generally they offer free or low cost entry.

A key focus of Children's University Tasmania is working with Learning Destinations to promote the opportunities they offer, collaborate in the co-creation of new activities and maximise the learning experience for families when they visit.

Learning Destinations identify with Children's University families by displaying our promotional material on-site and stamping passports at the end of a visit. Where possible they offer school holiday programs and other special events for CU families.

Learning Destination leaders are invited to join in the celebrations of achievement at our annual graduations.

Launceston Tramway Museum

The museum is tram-packed with adventure, complete with a 1940’s tram ride and conductors ready to stub your tickets. Spend the day at Inveresk and visit another great Learning Destination, the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery.

Tamar Island Wetlands Centre and Museum

Weave through tall grasses and over footbridges as you experience this unique wetland ecosystem, which is a haven for a wide array of animals, particularly birdlife. Learn more about the cultural and natural values of the area in the excellent visitor centre.

National Automobile Museum of Tasmania

The National Automobile Museum is a place where history comes alive. Did you know that the first car to conquer Ben Lomond is on display? You will also see the car that was left hanging from the Tasman Bridge the day a boat collided with the bridge, along with so many fine cars and motorbikes.

Low Head Pilot Station Maritime Museum

Discover the history of Australia's oldest pilot station, and the pilots who hopped into a boat and guided ships to the safety of a dock, avoiding the Tamar River's treacherous Hebe Reef. Take the ship’s helm, operate the engine room telegraphs, sound the portable fog horn, ring the ship’s bell, operate the maritime lights, and send messages in Morse Code and Semaphore.
