About the program
The Transport Assistance Grant provides financial assistance for buses to eligible schools aiming to bring their students onto any of the University of Tasmania’s campuses (Hobart, Launceston, Cradle Coast) for taster and campus experiences. These learning experiences provide an engaging close-up look at the university environment, exposes students to knowledge in new ways, reinforce lessons back in the classroom setting and exposure to future career opportunities outside of their region.
The grant will also expand to flagship events such as Lawfest, Talk Justice, the Science and Engineering Challenge, Health Tasters, the Economics Challenge and activities on the Schools Engagement Portal. Each school can only apply once.
Who can apply
Tasmanian Government and Catholic schools offering education from year 7 to year 12.
Eligible costs
The grant will cover up to $750 of total transportation costs between the school and their closest UTAS campus.
There are two tiers:
- Tier 1- up to $750 for schools more than 50km from a UTAS campus
- Tier 2 – up to $500 for schools less than 50km from a UTAS campus
Application process
Applications now open and will be assessed on a first come first serve basis.
