From the Big Bang to climate change

The story of the universe started around 13.7 billion years ago. Many major events happened before 2023, including the creating of our solar system, the formation of Earth, its continents and atmosphere, major mass extinctions and the arrival of human beings, which contributed to our current situation regarding climate change. Join us for an hour trying to summarise the history of the universe from its very beginning up to our current days.

About the program

A dynamic and interactive presentation starting with a simplified 10-minute video that covers the entire history of the universe (from its origin to our current climate/global warming). The video will be paused every 1 to 1.5 minutes and students will have activities to test what they have learnt in that minute or so, with additional comments from UTAS academics to encourage discussions with students.

Students will also be shown some fossils and rocks.
