About the research project

Remote communities and industrial sites heavily rely on fossil fuels for power generation, contributing to environmental degradation and economic inefficiencies. Green hydrogen technologies present a promising solution by enabling the production and utilisation of hydrogen derived from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, offering a clean, scalable, and versatile energy solution for remote power supply systems.

This project aims to advance green hydrogen technologies for remote power supply applications, focusing on developing and implementing sustainable energy solutions that displace fossil fuels. By leveraging electrolysis technologies powered by renewable energy, such as solar and wind, the project will explore efficient methods for producing green hydrogen. The research will include the design and optimisation of green hydrogen microgrids tailored to remote settings, addressing factors such as energy flow, energy storage, system stability and reliability, and economic feasibility. The project involves techno-economic analysis, modelling, simulation, and experimental testing to validate the performance and viability of the proposed solutions.
