Have you ever thought of yourself as a director? Whether you are on a board already, or exploring the idea of joining a community sector board - Gamechangers in Governance will equip you with the skills and strategies to be an effective board member and drive impactful change.
Gamechangers in Governance has been developed in partnership between the University of Tasmania and TasCOSS as a part of TasCOSS’s Community Services Industry Plan (2021-2031).

Who should do this course?

What you will learn
Upon completion of Stream 1, you will:
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of community service boards and board members
- Have awareness of the motivations and benefits of serving on a community board
- Know how to be an effective board member
Upon completion of Stream 2, you will:
- Be able to identify skills gaps in your board and develop strategies for effective recruitment and retention of board members
- Have knowledge, tools and resources for improving the structures and processes of your board(s)
- Know how to create and maintain a supportive board environment
Course Structure
Gamechangers in Governance is a short course designed to help you to become an effective community services board director:
- Co-designed with local community service sector stakeholders
- An accessible, affordable, practical online course tailored to Tasmania
- Stream 1: Preparing you to be a board member (16th October, 2023)
- Stream 2: Shaping an effective board (3rd March, 2024)
- You can choose to complete Stream 1, Stream 2, or both (purchase as a bundle below).
