About this course

Grammar and Vocabulary for the Workplace is a short course designed to develop your confidence in your communication skills. The course has a strong English language proficiency focus and is aimed at developing your grammar and vocabulary skills in preparation for an English-speaking workplace.

This 20-hour course runs over ten weeks (2 hours per week) and classes are synchronously timetabled. You will be actively engaged in task-orientated activities which develop and consolidate language and communication skills that are highly valued in the workplace. You will receive personalised feedback on your participation in these activities. Activities in this course include:

  • Situational dialogues reflecting workplace scenarios
  • Analyses of English grammar
  • Short Quizzes
  • Proofreading and error correction

What you will learn

You will learn a range of relevant vocabulary and grammatical structures to boost your confidence and competence in communicating in an English-speaking workplace, including:

  • vocabulary for clarity and appropriateness in Australian workplace & cultural setting
  • grammatical structures for clarity & precision in workplace interactions
  • language usage in accordance with appropriate formality
  • vocabulary & grammatical structures to boost confidence in spontaneous interactions

Glenn Johnson is an English Language instructor with over 25 years of experience delivering courses and creating curriculum in a range of areas.

These areas include general English, English for academic purposes, exam preparation, and workplace language support.

Glenn also utilises his training as a qualified drama instructor to deliver a language support program for students at the University of Tasmania.
