About Christ College
Christ College, fondly known as ‘Christ’, is the largest of our three Sandy Bay residential Colleges.
As the oldest tertiary institution in Australia, Christ College has a rich history dating back to 1846. The architecture, designed by Dirk Bolt, offers the perfect blend of cosy comfort and historical charm nestled within the scenic bushlands of Sandy Bay campus.
Each of our buildings are positioned around cozy courtyards, giving you stunning views of Hobart and the Derwent Estuary while connecting you with our tight-knit community of fellow students.
At the heart of the College sits 'The Rock', a survivor from a devastating fire in the 1960s. Until 2006, it was part of a yearly burning tradition, but even though that's stopped, it's still a beloved symbol of the college's past.
