Navigating a new career path in maritime and logistics

For Jordan Chapman, a career in maritime and logistics wasn’t always in the plan. After completing a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours), Jordan’s career took an unexpected turn when she began working at the Port of Brisbane.

Drawn to the fast-paced, ever-changing environment, she quickly found a new passion.

Now a National Business Analyst at Patrick Terminals, Jordan has taken her career to new heights by pursuing further education.

She has already completed a Graduate Certificate in Maritime and Logistics Management and is now working towards a Master of Business Administration in Maritime Management at the University of Tasmania’s Australian Maritime College.

“I wanted to deepen my knowledge and understanding of the maritime and logistics sector,” Jordan explains. “The University offers an outstanding program, and studying online has been a perfect fit alongside my full-time role.”

Her experience with online learning has been overwhelmingly positive. “The flexibility has been crucial in balancing my work and studies, and the lecturers have been incredibly supportive,” she said.

Reflecting on her academic journey, Jordan emphasised how her studies have enhanced her practical skills.

“The program has broadened my industry knowledge and allowed me to keep growing in my career.”

Jordan’s journey highlights how the University’s online courses empower professionals to develop specialised expertise while advancing their careers.

If you’re considering the next step in your career or seeking to gain a competitive edge, a postgraduate degree from the Australian Maritime College at the University of Tasmania can open new doors.
