Annabel found she could complete her degree in just two years.

Study

Business student Annabel Lauder’s plan to follow a career path into marketing started forming when she was 12 years old.

“I was always interested in studying marketing and advertising, and so the Bachelor of Business was the avenue to do that,” she said.

“From about grade eight, that's what I was set on, because there was nothing else that ever interested me as much, no matter what I looked at.”

By the start of grade 12, Annabel was already researching the best university to go to. And when she saw she could study an accelerated Bachelor of Business in just two years at the University of Tasmania, her decision was made.

She was still living in her home state of Queensland at the time. But after flying down to Tasmania and seeing Launceston’s Inveresk campus for herself, she knew the move was going to be worthwhile.

"I love studying here. The classes are challenging, and the professors are knowledgeable, but they're also very supportive," she said.

"I've made many friends here, and we often spend time together outside of class. There's a real sense of community here."

Annabel is studying an accelerated Bachelor of Business, majoring in marketing, with her classes taking place in the new River’s Edge building. The University had been her top choice due to its reputation for academic excellence, as well as its beautiful surroundings, and she said River’s Edge itself had become one of her favourite spots.

"It’s a beautiful building, quite new, and a great place to study and to have classes to meet with friends."

She described the facilities as top-notch, and the environment as conducive to learning.

Despite the occasional challenges of studying at a university in a new state, Annabel has remained focused and driven. She was determined to succeed in her studies and make the most of her time at the University of Tasmania.

"It's important to me to make the most of this opportunity and to learn as much as possible," she said.

"I'm excited about what the future holds, and I'm grateful for the education and experiences that I'm gaining here at the University of Tasmania."
