▶ A healthier Tasmania
The University of Tasmania is known for its world-leading medical research, but Tasmania itself has something of a health problem.
We have a rapidly ageing population, rates of chronic disease are well above the national average, and we have the second-lowest life expectancy of any state or territory, after the Northern Territory.
So, as we continue to make contributions to improving health globally, we have an equally important mission to create longer, healthier lives for those on our island as well.
By supporting this area of impact, you can help us to continue our research focus on fields that address both local need and global relevance.
You can support scholarships and fellowships dedicated to promoting research and study into health and medicine, or assist the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre to continue its work improving the lives of people with dementia and their carers. You can also contribute to the purchase of specialised infrastructure, like the genome sequencer needed by the Menzies Institute for Medical Research to continue its multiple sclerosis research.
Your generosity can help us make discoveries that will shape the future of health and medical treatment in Tasmania and the world.
