Gain close access to the Tasmanian legal community

The Bachelor of Laws gives you all the skills you need to become a legal practitioner. During your studies you'll have the chance to develop skills in advocacy, legal reasoning, critical thinking, communication, research, ethics and social responsibility, and more.

Our Law School is among the oldest in Australia, a testament to our enduring legacy of academic excellence. We have a proud history of shaping legal minds and contributing to legal progress.

We rank above the world standard in research in both quality and volume. This means you’ll learn under the guidance of nationally and internationally recognised academics, several of whom have authored the textbooks used in Law classes across Australia.

Studying with us, you receive more than an in-depth knowledge of the Law. We maintain close links to the Tasmanian legal community and our network of alumni. This brings opportunities to connect with the judiciary, senior practitioners, leaders from government and key legal institutions.

After successfully completing the Bachelor of Laws, you can move into the six-month Tasmanian Legal Practice Course – taught by judges, magistrates and lawyers – which is your ticket to admission to legal practice, in Tasmania and nationally.

Combined study options

A double degree allows you to deepen your knowledge within two separate study areas. Law is often paired with another degree such as a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business, or Bachelor of Science.

In the space of 5 years you can graduate with double the qualifications and a broad skill set.. This can not only expand your knowledge but give you a competitive advantage when pursuing employment.
