Apply for uni as an international student

Applying to study with us is easy. Complete your online application with these simple steps.

If you're doing the application yourself, just choose your course, check you meet the entry requirements and any course pre-requisites, check out any scholarships you might be eligible for, then go through our how to apply pages to make sure you get everything right!

You can apply directly with us through our application portal, or you may be required or prefer to apply through an agent. If so, you can find one of our authorised agents in your region and they'll guide you through the process.

  • The University of Tasmania does not charge an application fee.
  • If you require a student visa, you will need to allow additional time to apply for your visa.
  • There is no closing date for submitting your application for most courses, although we recommend that students living overseas should apply at least five months prior to semester start date and on-shore students apply no less than one month prior to semester start date. More information is available at Application dates.

You are an international applicant / student if you are:

  • intending to study on a student visa, or
  • not a citizen of Australia or New Zealand, or
  • not an Australian permanent resident, or
  • a temporary resident (visa status) of Australia.
