  • Penang: Discover the island of Penang, where you’ll be captivated by its vibrant cuisine that showcases Malaysia’s multicultural history. Take a stroll through Georgetown's UNESCO Heritage Walking Tour, exploring its historical streets and iconic colonial architecture. Relax on the pristine beaches of Batu Ferringhi or take in stunning views from Penang Hill’s lush rainforest.
  • Kedah: Journey to Kedah, known as the "Rice Bowl of Malaysia," where lush rice fields stretch across the horizon. Explore the tranquil countryside and take part in an eco-friendly mangrove planting experience, contributing to the conservation of vital coastal ecosystems. Delve into history at the Bujang Valley Archaeological Museum, home to ancient ruins and artifacts that reveal the region's rich cultural heritage.

Our partner University

Engagement with local University partners is a focal point of the trip and interactions include formal learning opportunities, such as seminars and lectures, as well as immersive learning via field visits to research sites.

Hosted by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), you will engage with local students, participate in learning activities around organic rice farming, flood control management and protecting coastlines. You will also experience campus life through walking and cycling tours, as well as visiting local attractions.

Our community and not-for-profit partners

You’ll visit a diverse range of environmental sustainability initiatives delivered by not-for-profit and community groups and, wherever possible, we will introduce you to University of Tasmania Alumni and Australian volunteers working in-country.  Your study tour will conclude with a final celebration event where you will share your learning and reflections, experience cultural activities and, of course, enjoy a final shared meal together.
